Born in 1961. 1978–1982 studied Sinology in Chongqing (BA). 1988–1991 Master studies in ‘Chinese as a foreign language’ in Chengdu. 1989 four-month education at the Beijing Language Institute (Beijing Yuyan Xueyuan). 1982–1994 lecturer for Chinese literature and didactics at Chengdu Normal University (Chengdu Shifan Daxue). 1987–1994 teacher at the Centre for Chinese as a Foreign Language at Sichuan University. 1995–1998 teacher at the State Language Institute North Rhine-Westphalia (Sinicum) in Bochum. Since 1999 reader in Modern Chinese at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.
